SeaChange Technology was formed in October 1999 to develop and market a range of shark deterrent products, which it later named Shark Shield. It has now changed its company name to Shark Shield Pty Ltd.

In the early 1990''s scientists from the Natal Sharks Board of South Africa discovered a unique electronic wave-form that deterred sharks. After many years of research, this technology was developed and incorporated into a product known as the Shark POD.

The Shark POD, although proven very successful at deterring sharks, was bulky, heavy and expensive. Recognising a significant opportunity, the founders of SeaChange Technology (now Shark Shield Pty Ltd) negotiated a worldwide exclusive licensing agreement with the Natal Sharks Board to utilise this unique patented wave-form in a range of shark deterrent products, now known as the Shark Shield.

In April 2002 the first Shark Shield product range was launched for divers. Since then the Shark Shield range has expanded its product range to suit many ocean users including surfing, body boarding, long boarding, snorkelling, scuba diving, free diving, ocean swimming and boating or fishing.. We are also proud of our environmental qualification. Shark Shield will reduce the slaughter of sharks directly by ultimately replacing shark nets, and indirectly by protecting all types of ocean users. This is expected to reduce the clamour to kill sharks. Shark Shield has no long term effect on sharks or indeed any other creature.

Shark Shield is increasing the levels of participation in water sports and helps make people''s working environment much safer – peace of mind, for individuals, families and employees.
